Patron Saint festivities

The residents of Benamejí wait expectantly for the arrival of the patron saint festivities, which are celebrated from the 10th to the 13th of September. On the 10th the streets of Benamejí dawn with a festive colour and days of fervour, everything begins with the ringing of bells and the firing of rockets, announcing the start of the festivities. On the same day, the highly acclaimed Benamejí Flamenco Festival, now in its thirty-eighth year, takes place.

On the 11th we celebrate the daytime fair on the promenade, with the traditional wine tasting, and the charanga (brass band) livens up the day even more, making everyone enjoy themselves and dance the day away. In the afternoon, in the bullring, the release of heifers and bulls will take place for the bravest who dare to go out into the bullring.  On the 12th, the whole town takes to the streets to accompany its solemn Patron Saint, María Santísima de Gracia Coronada, along her entire route and to see the impressive fireworks display. To culminate the patron saint festivities, on the 13th the pilgrims' mass is held to bid farewell to the Blessed Virgin in the Immaculate Conception Church, at the end of which the pilgrimage begins to take our mother to her sanctuary, accompanied by floats and pilgrims.
